teak benches

Alohaa….

See you again. Sorry for not posting a long time. It’s finally because, i agree hubby’s design for room arrangement. While for details, I’m still insisting to take mine too.

Today, I attend a meeting from syariah bank near from my house for bill payment point promotion. After that, I have lunch on a little small resto named “Kedai 2 nyonya” next to that bank. I order Tengkleng. Frankly, i’m not so familiat with this ‘new’ menu, but since my brother-in-law want-to-taste-it-so-badly then I curious about it. And finally, I try it today. Not so bad.

while enjoying the tengkleng, I see the bench on this venue. I’m so interested with the benches. It’s so well-furnished and so simple. I think it’s nice for outdoor usage like in the my future garden.

Then I ask the owner of this resto :

Me : Mam, do you make it by custom or the seller’s already had this design?

owner : No, I dont make it customly, I just said that i wanted multi-function furniture and they gave me this design. And I love it. I can use it for study table for kids once it’s not used anymore. It’s came from Jepara, it’s made from real jati or teak, even it’s not the old teak which is more expensive. This set of table and bench can be bench itself, just fold then the  ‘table’ will be the back rest of the bench.

me : wow… how much for each pair, mam?

owner : it’s about some hundred US dollars and it’s included delivery fee.

me : hm… reasonable and reachable price.

owner : yeah, many people and furniture vendors asked about it also.

me : thanks for information. may i capture them up?

owner : sure, it’s my pleasure.

The owner is so friendly and smiling often. I love the idea of the bench. After paying the lunch bill, i went home.

When my brother in law wants tengkleng badly, now I want that bench badly!

have a nice bench day 😀

Ravenia#2 : wifey makes changes!

Alohaa….

Long time not posting is like dying :D. Well, since the hubby is so busy with his work stuff, so I will take over the renovation post for a while (even I’m the administrator of this blog :D).

For reader information, the design is just for my reference only. The hubby obviously doesn’t agree for some room arrangement. But, It’s ok, I have my own reason for the arrangement.

Let’s start…

I attach the basic plan. You may see the complete basic plan here.

then, I’ve made changes as marked with red.

9 changes compared with the basic plan

  1. Move the front door & window location. If it stay on its original position, I think it is not nice there’re 2 doors side by side. I dont want to move it to the middle of the front wall, since the back door on the back wall is in the middle too. It’s not good based on some tradition. When the front door and the back door in 1 straight line, some old man said our luck would come and go easily.
  2. Add new door for living room access. I choose to change the master bedroom to be the living room. Why? Because the area is too small (2,5m x 3m). I’m not sure, there’s left area after we put our queen bed inside. I create the livingroom in a room due to privacy. I want to keep comfort on my own home while my hubby have guest in the livingroom. I  dont want to use it as bedroom either, since it’s too small and we have to enlarge the room by adding the space forward. Adding space forward means  more expenses to re-arrange the roof and it’s ‘skeleton’. I’ve added space on the backyard, no need to add the space to front yard.
  3. make a new wall for the border wall, you may see it’s thicker than other walls. Yup. Since the walls are made form BATAKO, I dont want on the future our border cracking when they put nails on their wall. That’s why, I want our own wall.
  4. Move the restroom door. Since I want to add new sliding door as teh access to the master bedroom, so the bedroom also has the direct-access to the restroom without  exiting the bedroom.
  5. Add new space on the rest room for water heater’s gas storage. This idea comes when I think it’s not safe enough to put the gas tub outside. So I want it inside the restroom.
  6. Add new room for bedroom. Yes, so the bedroom will be 3x4m. And we can see the sideyard garden when we wake up :). This is my dream bedroom, when I can see the ‘green’ and inhale it’s freshness.
  7. Move the door-less-access to middle in the original back wall. Actually, i move it to the middle of the wall is due to I want to devide the room for kitchen and laundry space. If it’s without wall or divider, it’s like so miserable, so messy.
  8. Add new wall for backside. It’s for additional room for kitchen and service area (laundry area). Yes, I’ve explained on point#7
  9. Add minimalist dry garden for back wall border. It’s for ‘breathing’ so the kitchen will have the window and breath and so does the laundry space. On next post, i will give you the details for each points.Stay tuned and dress your house up 🙂

Side fence

Aloha,

This is wifey again! The hubby is busy with his office task, therefore for a while, I’ll update this blog for all of our followers 😀

Last night, hubby visited our favorite site, houzz. He searched something which I dont know, since I watched TV. On some pictures he adored, he called me to take a look. And he showed me this picture.

Our house-will-be should be fenced and we agreed. We dont want our plant in the side yard are taken by some goats or something else. Our 1st idea is by siding the outer part of the side yard with 2,5meters height wall. We’re going to make wall for side yard only, since  the front fence should not exceed than 80 cm.

Then, there come the new idea. Wood.

My hubby want the side fence is made from wood as his assumption it’s cheaper than wall. Hm.. actually, I ddint know about the cost comparison.

Then I searched, for wood fence and I find this and this. What??? it’s about 800thousand – 1million rupiahs for per meter square?! It’s too expensive!

Then, I compare between the iron fence and wood fence for their pluses & minuses. Hm… still counting on calculator.

Ahaaa! I have an idea. How if I use the bamboo as the fence material? How smart I am 😀

I can find bamboo everywhere. It’s familiar here. But, then rise another problem.

I’ve browsed the internet, and guess what???

  • No local profesional vendor to install bamboo fence.
  • I’ve just found 1 local preservatived-bamboo vendor.
  • other alternative is importing from China. Ow… my God! *speechless.

So now, i’m re-thinking what material should be appropiate for our side fence…
